My wife and I took a 7-day cruise of the Hawaiian Islands aboard NCL's Pride of America. Upon docking the last day, January 14th, we booked a tour that ended up at the Honolulu airport. On Monday, April 18 I took two of your tours. I took the 9:30am Diamond Head Tour with Sev. I had own but was very glad I took the tour. Sev was very knowledable and hearing all about the history of Diamond Head while hiking through it was great. I then took the 2pm Manoa Waterfall tour with Stan. I was amazed at how much Stan knew about the birds, plants and he made the hike so much better. I never felt rushed on either tour and had plenty of time to take pictures. Both tour guides were very outgoing and helpful. These tours made my trip to Oahu so much better. Aloha Oahu Nature Tours! I just returned from a week in Hawaii, and my Oahu Nature Tours were the absolute highlights of my trip. I found you on the Internet, looking for "Hawaii" and "hiking." That was a lucky day.

I booked these tours through Barefoot Tours, which I also found on the Internet. Two friends came with me (Alma Reising and Michelle Davidson, who may write on their own), but I was the only one to experience all of these:

Mountain Rainforest
David Strauch was a wonderful guide. Without David, I would never have smelled a cinnamon tree, eaten a raw coffee bean, watched tiny snails crawl over huge leaves, known what a kukui nut was, or climbed to the top of a glorious ridge in the Ko'olau Mountains. He was knowledgeable, considerate, and clear.

Natural Highlights
This afternoon ranked as the most fun we had all week! Mee-Na, our guide, made our group of strangers into friends almost instantly. We were the lone Americans, along with two girls from Mexico, a brother and sister from Italy, and a couple from Canada. Mee-Na was a personable, passionate, patient teacher for us as our "party" explored the tide pools and the beautiful beaches along the coast.

I took both these tours with Sev. I love hiking mountains, so these were among my favorite tours of the week. Sev was a thoroughly knowledgeable guide, and extremely helpful and entertaining as well. The waterfall was such a treat and well worth the climb and mud! And my co-workers are still marvelling over the fact that their desk-bound editor actually climbed Diamond Head!

Overall, I can't imagine a better way to spend my Hawaiian vacation days. My only regret is that I couldn't fit in more tours with you. I loved the small size of the groups and that I could get to know people from around the world. Your outfit is first-rate, and I have and will continue to recommend your company to everyone I know. Your website is wonderful, and the tour pictures were great! You beat the "Gift Shop Tours" hands down.

If only there were services like yours in every state. Maybe you should market your idea! Ohio doesn't have as good a reputation for beauty as Hawaii, but we do have marvelous nature here, including a beautiful and underestimated national forest near Cleveland, many bird sanctuaries along Lake Erie, and great hill hiking in the southern half of the state...but no Ohio Nature Tours!

On May 2, 2004 I took the Lost Coast and the North Shore tours - guided by Alex. I thoroughly enjoyed myself the entire day. I was able to see a lot more of the island than I thought in such a limited amount of time there in Oahu. Alex was fun to listen to, eductated us on more history and culture than I had anticipated - and just had a wonderful spirit about him making for a fantastic tour! Had I more time I would have gone on several other tours during my visit - there's always next time! I will recommend these tours to anyone! Best of luck to all. On April 28, 2004 I accomplished something that no doctor believed I could accomplish with advanced breast cancer. I climbed Diamond Head and made it to the top. Oahu Nature Tours made special arrangements for me so I could achieve my dream. I was able to take the trail at my own pace with no fear of not being able to get back to my hotel. I can't tell you how wonderful it felt to achieve this goal. I did this for myself, for every person affected by breast cancer and to show that even people with cancer have dreams and we should be encouraged to achieve our dreams. I want Stan to know I made it, but I couldn't have done it without the care of Oahu Tours. You made a dream come true for a person who is terminally ill. I prefer to think I am terminally alive. I took the Waterfall Hike (#3) on March 24th with Mee-na, and the Rainforest Hike (#5) with Mike on the 26th. Both guides were terrific - extremely knowledgeable, personable, professional and fun. Despite the rainy weather and muddy trails, we still saw a vast amount of gorgeous plant life on both hikes. I have a great picture of Mee-na posing down in front of the waterfall. I took two of your tours with my daughter last week and just wanted to let you know how great they were. First we did the Diamond Head walk with the brilliant Sev, who has inspired me to take more science subjects as part of my studies at Queensland University. He is alot more interesting than my professors! (also a million times better looking). Then we took the Hidden waterfalls tour with Samson. Again,I cannot speak highly enough of him. I really enjoyed learning things about the local culture and Hawaiian history. It was great to hear his perspective from a native of the beautiful Islands. As I am from Maori descent (New Zealand) it was interesting to me to learn of the similarities between the two cultures. My only regret is that our visit was too short and we were unable to take more of your tours. However I am determined to return next year. The tours we took were absolutely fantastic! My girlfriend and I were wowed beyond belief by the scenery and information passed on by your guides. I only wish we had been able to get those two guides for all 4 of our tours. Sev was extremely knowledgeable for someone who wasn't a native of Hawaii and very pleasant to everyone.
I will also second the suggestion I read in another guestbook entry by saying that you should consider expanding to the other islands. The quality of your guides would be a certain hit on ANY island that you offer tours on. We'll be sure to check you folks out the next time (and my girlfriend says that there WILL be a "next time"!) we visit Hawaii.

and we really enjoyed going through the rainforest and seeing the hidden waterfalls. The tour through the Lili 'uokalani Gardens was a wonderful experience seeing all of the native plants and trees. Thank you Sev for a wonderful experience.

Hi, my name is Chenner. I was very delighted to take a #4 adventure tour on April 10th, Thursday afternoon With Joseph. It was quite a pleasant experience. The innocence of the nature did refresh my sensibilities. The spirit of the wild did lift my heavy soul for a moment. My mind also enjoyed it in a way that I stopped thinking.
Experience with nature is something more than just feels good physically. It nurtures our invisible self of being. It was a pleasant trip.

Aloha, Mike! We just returned home after 10 wonderful days in paradise. Had to tell you how much we enjoyed your Natural Highlights of Oahu Adventure tour on January 24th. We have been to Oahu, and several of the other Hawaiian islands, many times over the last 25 years, but all seven of us agreed that yours was by far the most enjoyable and informative tour we've ever taken. Your sharing your knowledge of Hawaiian flora and fauna, and giving us the historical accounts of the islands, were things we enjoyed learning about, but hadn't ever heard before. Thank you for a wonderful time. (I also sang your praises to one of the tour arrangers in the Hale Koa Hotel. She seemed pleased to receive the feedback, but didn't appear to be especially surprised; I figured she must hear it quite often from others.)

The 11-28-01 Northshore Adventure, although a bit damp at times, was the closest to birdwatching I had been able to do in a long long time. Yippee! I'm sorry the waves weren't up so we might catch a bit of the the Surfing Competition that week. Our guide was simply Outstanding...Mahalo!

My wife and I were privileged to attend a tour on Wednesday morning, 10/30/01, as part of a post-cruise package. After 12 days in Hawaii, numerous stops, talks and reading I was leaving with a sense that we had some much left to learn and discover about this culturally diverse land. Fate drew us to your tour and we were both overwhelmed and excited by the information you presented. Although I've taken 6 cruises I am not partial to them because they rarely give any real insight to the culture, infrastructure or plant and animal diversity - mostly we get the 'Hilo Hatties' of the world. UGH!!!!!!

Touring with Lorraine was one of the highlights of our recent trip tp Hawaii. It was so enjoyable listening to someone with such a diverse knowledge of the land, culture, politics, environment, history, etc. of Hawaii. She took us way beyond the picture book of Hawaii to a better understanding of the delicate balance between the development and preservation of Hawaii.
