Manana Island ,also called Rabbit Island, is a cone of palagonite tuff built around two vents, each marked by a crater with area of 63 acres and the highest elevation is 361 feet.

Introduced rabbits were found on the island until 1994 when they were eradicated by biologists concerned about the destruction of native plants.

During Spring and Summer over 10,000 Wedge-tailed shearwaters,80,000 Sooty terns, 20,000 Brown noddys, 5-10 Bulwers petrels and 10-15 Red-tailed tropicbirds nest on Manana.
