Juan Fernandez Petrel
Pterodroma externa

A large ,powerful gadfly petrel. Size: 16-17 in. Blackish crown and nape; white forehead and face. Brownish gray upper parts. White underparts. Black tail. Blackish wings; underwings white with black borders. Black bill. Pale roseate legs.

Very pelagic species, it is found at the tropical and subtropical waters of the East Pacific Ocean, off Chile, Mexico, western United States and Hawaiian islands.

Breeding starts between October and November only on the Alejandro Selkirk island of Juan Fernandez archipelago.
